Clodiagh Rangers 4 - Rearcross U-11's 0

Drombane was the venue for this well contested league game with Clodiagh Rangers emerging four nil winners over Rearcross in what was a somewhat harsh scoreline for a visiting side that matched their opponents for long spells. A highly competitive opening half saw Clodiagh Rangers make the early incisions and it took a last ditch tackle from Paul Nolan coupled with a brave save from Cathal Kennedy to deny the hosts. Indeed Cathal Kennedy went on to produce a man of the match performance and produced two quick fire saves within a three minute spell to keep the home side at bay. Rearcross took the game to the Drombane side after this and Stephen Rochford fired on target midway through the half, however the Clodiagh Rangers custodian gathered at the near post. Rearcross were luckless not to take the lead on twelve minutes when Sean Malone broke to the centre before drilling inches outside the upright. The visitors were dealt a succour blow a minute before the half time whistle when Luke Shanahan broke on the left before firing to the back of the net. Rearcross pressed at the start of the second half as Patrick Dawson forced a save out the home side's keeper two minutes in, Patrick Dawson was on target again three minutes later but again Ryan Greene was positioned to save. Stephen Rochford had a fine outing for the Rea boys and tracked back to avert the danger to keep the game alive. Rearcross had emptied the bench at this stage as Clodiagh Rangers tacked on three late goals with a brace from Michéal McLoughlin before Luke Shanahan wrapped it up for Clodiagh Rangers in the dying moments.
